What high cholesterol does to your arteries and how to lower your cholesterol naturally

A high cholesterol number after a blood test can be scary but what does it really mean?

It doesn’t mean you are necessarily  unhealthy but you should watch your diet and exercise.

High cholesterol can injure artery walls if too high.

To lower your cholesterol naturally, without statin drugs, it’s important to eat the right foods and get active.

Eating healthy can be quite delicious.

Eat poached or baked chicken, lean meats and fish. Eat as many plant-based foods as you can. Enjoy as many fruits and vegetables as you can. Excellent examples are grapefruit, sweet potato, celery, apple, ginger, spinach, carrots and orange.

Limit white carbs like a white bread, white rice, white pasta, noodles, fried pastry, white flour and pancakes. If you want to lower your cholesterol, easy on the greasy, bready, sugary, processed food for a while:

Give your body a break. Steam your fish and vegetables. Snack on healthy raw nuts and fruit. Aim to eat at least 2 to 4 cups of dark green leafy vegetables, like chard, spinach, arugula, field greens, mixed greens, romaine and kale. Don’t let them sit in your fridge for too long, eat them right away. Drizzle some extra-virgin olive oil and squeeze a lemon on for dressing. 1. I have been diagnosed to have high cholesterol when I was 34 years of age. I found out myself because I started developing xanthalessma, those ugly excrescences below and above my eyelids. Ever since I have not consumed diary( which I used to a lot, before), eggs, fats, fried stuff etc..,. Seems I have familial hypercholesterolemia. In spite of all the lifestyle changes I could make, high cholesterol levels continue- I can live with that but what bothers me are the xanthalessma and the marks that remain on my face.
