Understanding emotions: what is underneath your anger?

Sometimes just breaking down emotions can help to understand them. And once we understand what we’re feeling, there is often and immediate defusing of the situation. It’s not a solution, but understanding what you’re feeling is important.

Often people blow up in anger. But what are some of the feelings underneath that quick and aggressive display of emotion?

Underneath perhaps the angry person is frustrated, feels trapped, hurt, disappointed or scared.

The next time you get angry, and as you take your deep breaths, sit with the anger… Feel it… And then try to understand what is underneath.

What do you do when you are angry? How do you diffuse the anger? Is there a way to understand the feeling and move past it?
