After a safe and exhausting workout there’s nothing better than a clean, natural colorful post workout breakfast. You want something high in protein and foods that will replenish your electrolytes. These are the electrolytes that you lost in the form of sweat and in the chemical and electrolytic responses that were happening in your muscles as they needed energy to perform.
Post workout is the perfect time to fuel. Especially for those of us who practice intermittent fasting.
Here’s a great example of a colorful breakfast you can eat post workout to fuel and help build your muscles.
If you choose 0% fat yogurt, this fuel is high in protein, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and sugars to replenish your body.
Start with a grapefruit if your goal is to lose fat.
Then reach for the color. Strawberries and blueberries are delicious and replenish your electrolytes post workout. They also provide so many benefits for your body. Much better than a packaged energy bar or powder shake.
Nuts, like almonds, provide healthy fats and proteins to build muscles. Did you know that a little cup of Greek yogurt contains about 20 g of protein?
There are so many ways to eat plain yogurt. Don’t go for the flavored kind, with heaps of sugar. Go for plain low-fat yogurt and top it with fruit, like berries.
