Healthy homemade summer drink recipe: honey iced green tea lemonade

There are so many great refreshing summer drinks available out there. The only problem is you don’t know how much added sugar or preservatives there are in it and what you are buying. This is why it’s a good idea to make your own!

Try out this recipe for a great summer drink. It is honey green iced tea lemonade! It’s healthy, you know what you’re drinking, it’s homemade and it tastes refreshingly delicious on a hot summer day.

Here’s the recipe!

Green tea iced lemonade

Ingredients:

Juice of 5 lemons

4 green teabags

One cup boiling water

8 cups water

5 ice cubes

6 tablespoons honey

Directions:

I make this tea in two parts. First make the hot green tea and honey part of the recipe. Then make the cold lemon part of the recipe before combining:

1. Bring 2 cup water to boil with 4 bags green tea. Turn off heat, steep three minutes, covered.

2. Squeeze lemons. Add juice to pitcher. Add hot mixture to lemon juice along with cold water. Refrigerate. Add ice cubes and enjoy.

Begin with the best quality of ingredients you can

Bring water to a boil, add your teabags, turn off heat, add honey, and steep for three minutes.

Add honey to hot green tea mixture

Now the cool lemon part:

Squeeze the lemons for their juice!

Add the honey team mixture to the lemon mixture and you’re done! Refrigerate for at least one hour before adding ice and enjoy.

Happy summer!

The Craft of Cooking

I watch America’s Test Kitchen and love what they do. I learn a lot from how the test kitchens practice their craft and love this interview!

Longreads

Jessica Gross | Longreads | June 2015 | 18 minutes (4,479 words)

In 1980, 29-year-old Christopher Kimball enrolled in a cooking class and was so frustrated by his instructors’ inability to answer his questions that he started his own cooking magazine. Cook’s Magazine, since reborn as Cook’s Illustrated, presents a small number of recipes refined through extraordinarily rigorous testing by the cooks in Kimball’s 2,500-square-foot kitchen lab. The bimonthly magazine—which features only black-and-white illustrations—eschews a focus on “lifestyle” in favor of treating cooking as a discipline and a craft. Over the years, Cook’s Illustrated has garnered a large and loyal readership—and spawned an empire, including a second magazine, Cook’s Country; many cookbooks; and two television shows. “America’s Test Kitchen,” the most popular cooking show on public television, is currently in its 15th season. How long should you cook your vegetables?

For dinner the other day I ate roast chicken, with two types of vegetables. I chose raw fresh brussels sprouts and asparagus.

I knew the brussels sprouts would take longer but I wasn’t sure how much. I decided to stay in them for five minutes and then add them to the roasting pan with the asparagus. It turned out The brussels sprouts needed a lot longer!

Instead of steaming maybe I should have boiled, or if I wanted to steam I should’ve steam for at least 10 minutes or more before roasting in the oven with butter and garlic.

Here is a vegetable cooking time sheet to help you so you get it right!

Let me know if this helps you!
